Around the age of ten, I bought myself a second-hand MSX computer: the MSX Toshiba HX-10, complete with a tape recorder, so I could both play games and write small BASIC programs on a computer that was finally entirely my own. Loading a game from tape, listening to that familiar screeching sound and hoping it would not fail halfway through, is a very particular kind of nostalgia.
